Transfers

I’m already registered for sales tax, how can I let Numeral start filing for me?
If you have an existing sales tax account and/or are filing and paying taxes in a state, you will need to transfer your login credentials to Numeral, so we can start filing on your behalf.
To do so, log in to the Numeral Dashboard, and head over to ‘Nexus’ on the left side of your screen. You’ll see a prompt on the top of the screen where you can find the amount of states where you have crossed nexus, and you’ll see a ‘Get Started’ button on the right hand side of your screen. As soon as you click there, you’ll see a list of states where you are eligible to either register or transfer. You’ll need to select the ‘Transfer’ option in this case, since you are already registered and want Numeral to start managing sales tax for you.
You will need to click on ‘Transfer’ for each of the states you want to transfer. As soon as you click on that option, you’ll be able to enter your username and password. Please make sure to review the credentials carefully before sharing them, so Numeral is able to access your state portals without any issue.
Besides this, if you just registered on your own, and haven’t filed sales tax for these states yet, you’ll need to make sure your sales tax account is linked to your state portal. If you have already received mail from the state, you will need to enter either a letter ID, taxpayer number, PIN or other relevant information that you’ll be asked to enter once you login to the recently registered states portal. If you don’t have that information to link your sales tax account to the portal, you will need to contact the state’s office. You can find a complete list of states numbers where you can call here.
If you are transitioning from another solution, it is necessary that you disconnect from their system before transferring over to Numeral. You will also need to let our onboarding team know when you expect Numeral to start filing on your behalf. Note that we typically onboard clients the month before we take over their filing (i.e. we onboarding you in February and start filing February returns in March).
We've recorded this loom to help walk you through this process:
Considerations to take into account for some states:
For some states, we also require other details, besides states credentials:
-
Arizona: PIN
-
Wyoming: PIN
-
Florida: Business partner number and certificate number
-
Ohio: your account number (typically starting in 99)
Please make sure to share these details once you receive Numeral’s onboarding email.
Once these details are provided, we’ll be ready to set up 2 factor authentication for some of the state portals that have this setup enforced. A Numeral email address will be added to these portals, so we’re also able to receive these codes. This will guarantee our Filing team has the access needed to start filing on your behalf.
You can expect to set up 2FA for the following states:
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, District of Columbia, Wisconsin, West Virginia.
Once you begin your onboarding with Numeral, our team will request you to either set this up via SMS if you are transferring 1-3 states, or to book some time in our calendar in order to transfer 4 or more states.
Can’t wait to have you onboard!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our team! Head over to the Numeral dashboard and click into the messenger icon on the bottom right hand-side of your screen.
